Some of the keen and rare developments have altered America’s lifestyle more quickly and more completely than the Internet. Online access has enabled people from all walks of life to bring entire libraries, entertainment venues, post offices and financial centers to a workplace, to a desktop or to a shirt pocket. The Internet’s largest and most meaningful impact may very well be on the way consumers shop for everything from gifts, gadgets and groceries to clothing, cars, and cruises. The ease and selection that the Internet provides to shoppers has changed the face of retailing. More and more, consumers visit a store’s Web site to make their choices before traveling to the store itself; and in a rapidly swelling tide, many shoppers are by passing the store altogether and ordering online directly from the Web sites of their favorite brands and outlets.

Companies like Sephora, Sears and Crate & Barrel have increased the range and quantity of products available at their online stores and are sending online coupons and sale announcements via e-mail directly to their customers. Because online stores are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and their inventories are often more complete than those of their brick-and-mortar counterparts, the Internet makes it easy for shoppers to compare products within or between stores, to read product reviews from other customers, to access vendor return policies and to find warranty information.

Recent studies of the marketplace by Nielsen Net Ratings found more than 200 million Americans (or 75%) are using the Internet. Those who shopped online in 2003 spent $17.2 billion online in just the fourth quarter alone. Research firms anticipate that, in2004, the number of online shoppers will increase by 14 percent, representing 30percent of the U.S. population. In four more years, half the country’s population will be purchasing online. Many of the potential concerns that surround the safety of online shopping have been resolved by online payment services.

The premier service of this type is PayPal, which has set the benchmarks for secure Internet transactions and ease of use. When purchasing something using PayPal, users simply carry out the transaction through their PayPal accounts, rather than a credit card. PayPal then charges each purchase to the individual’s credit card or checking account. Because all PayPal transactions are based on the user’s e-mail address, merchants never have access to the user’s account information. This method is safer, more secure and more convenient than providing financial information to multiple sites of individual sellers.

The Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India was established in 1984 as a non-profit society, with the objective of providing training in finance and management. The ICFAI University refers to the Universities sponsored by the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India in Uttarakhand, Tripura, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Jharkhand under respective legislations. The Governments of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Punjab issued letters of intent to the Institute for the establishment of Universities. Each University is a separate and independent legal entity. Consequently, the University confers degrees at Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral levels on eligible students subject to the University Regulations.

The University Grants Commission has included all the Universities mentioned above in the list of Universities maintained under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956.However in the list of Universities/Institutions approved by Distance Education Council (As of 01/02/2010), only ICFAI University, Dehradun has been included. ICFAI is not affiliated with the CFA Institute and both the institutes have broken their partnership and are running their courses separately.

ICFAI, having been embroiled in a long legal battle with the CFA Institute, focused its energy on developing private universities, some of which have AICTE recognition along with UGC recognition. ICFAI has focused all its energies away from developing its CFA charter like giving it statutory recognition increasing its status as a high status profession like that of CA from ICAI, which was announced by the governing member NJ Yeshasway who vowed to take up the CFA Charter a notch above the legendary CA exam considered to be the toughest in the realm of finance, but instead has opened a host of non-CFA programs like MBA, ICFAI Business Schools (IBS), PG Programs which have scaled up into national top 10 place in India. It has also opened schools for under graduate programs and offering degrees. Indian CFAs pass with a stringent eligibility to qualify as CFAs but have only a niche finance sector as the job market unlike CA which has traditional roles of Auditing and taxation along with statutory roles. CFAs work in investment related and finance fields where MBAs (some from ICFAI itself), CAs, Master’s Degree holders of Statistics, Economics, Doctorates etc. hold top posts.

ICFAI though has safeguarded its CFA charter in India with valid state legislature under IUT Tripura Act, but CFA charter holders are not mandatorily employable and currently don’t perform any statutory duty unlike CAs, CSs, CWAs, though CCFA tried to accomplish this in investment related areas in India by submitting a draft bill to the ministry of finance for consideration which was rejected due to various legal disputes that ICFAI faces.

ICFAI is also creating a window for students of CFA program to undergo 2 months internship with its in-house concerns to impart rigorous analytical skills. Exemption for MBAs will be stopped from the current academic year. Also, ICFAI is drafting a continuing professional development module which will be compulsory for all the current CFAs. This program will enable the current CFAs to enhance their knowledge in their respective areas and will include relevant statutes changes, paradigm shift in capital markets and allied subject matter. ICFAI hopes to regain the old status of its CFA program through continuously evolving methods, the most recent is focusing on the core aspects of investment management and financial analysis in its MFA degree(current CFA syllabus) and increasing CFA charter membership by giving official charters to students who have cleared the core subjects of investment management and financial analysis of the previous(CFA curriculum) MS Finance program.

If the child dreads a dunk in the tub even more than the family cat, bath time at our house is undoubtedly a nightly battle. Yet teaching children good hygiene habits is definitely worth the effort. Aside from keeping up appearances and not offending others, “it’s important for children to learn lifelong habits of good hygiene to keep them healthy and prevent the spread of common illnesses.”

Shower power. Maybe a bath sounds babyish to our growing child. Instead, we can install a kid-safe showerhead, for ages 3 and up, which is adjustable to our child’s height, has a gentler spray and fun animal shaped showerheads—these are available at many department and larger grocery stores. The idea is that feeling independent and grown-up will encourage him to lather up more often.

Wash hands

Hand washing is the best way to prevent the spread of illnesses, says Dr. Smitherman. “Germs from coughing, rubbing the eyes, nose and mouth can be spread to other people by the hands. Hand washing helps decrease the number of germs that can be spread.”

Make it count. Using the proper technique is important when washing hands: first wet the hands thoroughly with warm water, then use enough soap to create a good lather and rub the hands vigorously for 20 seconds. Rinse, dry and turn off the faucet with the towel. To keep kids scrubbing for a sufficient amount of time, use a timer or get them to sing “Happy Birthday” or recite the alphabet Kids should wash their hands frequently: before all meals, after outdoor activities and playing with pets.

Clean hands on the go. While washing hands with soap and water is best, hand sanitizers are very useful when there is no access to running water, such as in the car, on the playground and in the classroom. They’re safe to use for all ages; however younger children may need to be closely supervised so they don’t put their hands in their mouths or rub their eyes before the sanitizer evaporates.

Care for teeth

Brush properly. By the time our child is a pre-teen, she should be brushing three times a day. “Kids are now eating smaller meals, more often. This means they have more food sitting on their teeth, which leads to more risk for cavities.” Besides brushing in the morning and before bed, squeeze in a third brush mid-day after the afternoon snack. And anytimeour child munches on sugary treats, have him brush within 20 minutes since bacteria can take their toll that quickly.

With the growth of the Corporate Sector particularly after Privatization, Liberalization, Globalization policies of the Government, business houses are becoming more professional. Company Secretaries have emerged as indispensable adjuncts to the corporate establishments. A cadre of practicing Company Secretaries has also been nurtured and developed to render effective secretarial, legal and management assistance to the small and medium sized companies and other business establishments which are not required to appoint mandatorily whole-time company secretaries.

The Company Secretaries (C.S.) have emerged as indispensable adjunctments, to the Indian Corporate Sector due to their thorough knowledge base in areas such as corporate laws, capital market operations, stock exchange and trading etc. They have contributed significantly to the growth of Indian Corporate Sector by rendering effective secretarial, legal and management assistance to the small, medium sized companies and other business establishments.

The liberalization of Indian economy has brought about a sea change in the role and profile of a Company Secretary. The job of a Company Secretary involves diverse responsibilities. The company secretary’s role has assumed significance in the present situation as, in the liberalized economy; the thrust is on self-regulation and self-discipline in which the concept of management by exception plays a pivotal role.

Company Secretaries are also seen as corporate development planners who explore expansion opportunities such as arranging various collaborations, amalgamations, mergers, acquisitions, takeovers, setting up of subsidiaries and joint ventures within and outside India. The capital market has witnessed a rapid growth and this has opened new vistas for company secretaries. The Position In fact, many company secretaries are already holding key positions in the capital markets and financial service industries. “A Company Secretary is in fact better equipped than a person holding an MBA (Finance) in accountancy and documentation in financial services. The role of a company secretary becomes more pertinent as the corporate houses are laying emphasis on investor relations and setting up investor grievance Cells.

Almost every kind of organization, whose affairs are conducted by boards, councils and other corporate structures, whether it is a trust, society or a co-operative society, association, federation, authority, commission, board or the like find it useful to appoint company secretary. A qualified CS has access to openings in the private and public sector, financial institutions, stock exchanges & the Central/State Government. Company Secretaries are the only interface between management and the investing public that is what makes them important in the corporate hierarchy. A company secretary’s expertise in handling three areas management, accounting and law makes him the right choice for a place on the Board of Directors. He is to accompany what a Secretary to the Government of India, is to a Ministry

Indian animation industry was estimated at $354 million in 2006 and was forecast to reach $869 million by 2010. Animation in India is currently riding on two key factors – a large base of highly skilled labor, and low cost of production. While the industry is gaining prominence steadily, several important factors such as the government’s role in supporting the animation industry, and producing original content locally. In 2009, the state of the animation industry in India, was growing at a CAGR of 30%, is estimated to reach US$ 1.5 billion by 2015.

Some of the other estimates of the NASSCOM report on animation indicate the following:

The global entertainment market will generate a demand for animation production services of the order of US$ 37 billion by 2013.

In the non-entertainment segment the demand for animation production services will touch US$ 14.7 billion by 2015.

The global film/TV program production market will create a US $ 17.5 billion revenue opportunity for animation production houses

The Indian gaming industry was estimated at nearly $48 million in 2006 and is expected to cross $424 million by 2010.

Pune, is competing with Hyderabad and Mumbai to be the country’s animation hub. With the sector facing severe human resources shortage, more and more studios are increasingly venturing into animation training. Chetan Deshmukh, an animator and special effects expert, recently shifted his base to Pune from US. He has worked on Hollywood movies like Chicago and Shanghai Knights. The Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA), a premier body of industries in and around Pune region has launched a program me to catapult Pune as a global hub for animation and gaming. It has recently formed a group of professionals, training institutes and celebrities to implement the initiative, with filmmaker AmolPalekar has as their brand ambassador.

Globally, the animation industry is poised to touch USD 100 billion by 2012 and India’s animation industry is expected to hit USD 1 billion by 2012, aided by increased outsourcing and a growing domestic market," according to Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics ( MAAC) Business head.

Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC) is the leader in high-end 3D Animation & VFX education in India and is engaged in the making of most awaited 3D animation film "Ramayana the Epic”.Animation in India is on the right track. There is a lot of interest in it, and therefore a lot of uptake in the sector.

Our biggest advantage is the technical expertise, robust telecom infrastructure and English-speaking graphic designers and animators who with relevant training can be quickly made ready for the industry, at costs lower than those prevailing in developed markets.Indian companies have also been helped by the increase in production budgets for animation movies worldwide. In the past decade, more than 15 animated movies, with budgets over USD 100 million, have been produced and we are hoping to continue this trend

There was a time when India was a famous destination for the merchants. They used to buy spices, gold, art & sculpture from here and sell their clothes etc. That was a form of commercial tourism. In later years, with the advent of quick transportation, heritage and wildlife tourism in India sprouted inside the foreigners.

The newest trend is medical tourism in India. India is considered far better from its other asian rivals like Singapore, Thailand etc in many aspects.
Many people from Europe, Africa, America etc are coming to India for medical treatments either it is a small dental surgery or a severe cardiac operation. The key behind this is cheap treatment and the quality of service. patients can save upto 60-90% of the amount they would have been charged in their own country for the same treatment. India is most preferred nation for this purpose because of the world-class reputation of Indian doctors.

Indian doctors are serving in all the big countries of the world and they secure a key place at all the reputed medical institutions of the world. About 300,000 foreigners came to India for medical tourism in 2007. Indian market reports state that most of the medical tourists coming to India are from asian countries and about 20% of them are North-American & about 30% are Europian.
Growth Of Medical Tourism In India – This trend is benefitting not only Indian medical industry but the local tourism industry too as the patients utilise their trip by visiting famous tourist destinations of the country. In 2007, medical tourism brought a revenue of about US $650 million and this figure is increasing by the rate of 30% annually. There a number of medical hospitals in India that are specialised in such business and they provide a complete package of medical vacations.
Overseas cosmetic surgery costs somewhere near a major operation in India. A good number of medical tourists come here for dental treatment, cosmetic surgery and wellness therapies.
Wellness tourism contributes a big share in the lot of medical tourism in India. Ayurvedic therapy, yoga, naturotherapy, herbal treatments etc are very famous indian traditional therapies. Ayurvedic treatments are very popular among foreign tourists for wellness purpose as they don’t impart any side-effects. Kerala, Goa, Uttaranchal & Himachal Pradesh are the popular wellness medical tourism states of India. A proper hospital accreditation system is very necessary for the standardization of the medical facilities in the country.
