Few of the big banner and budget films are due to release in the next month or so. The music is already on air in various promos.
Kismat Konnection
This film is starring Shahid Kapoor and Vidya Balan is directed by Aziz Mirza. The songs of the movie has been written by Sayeed Quadri and Shabbir Ahmed and composed by Pritam. Going by the list of biog names there is no doubt that this album will not connect to the audience. The title song of the film Aai Paapi sets the groove on from very first note. The song has Hinglish lyrics and sung by Neeraj Sridhar. The track Bakhuda Tumhi Ho is also said to be the personal favourite of Shahid Kapoor as well. The song has been sung by Alka Yagniuk and Atif Aslam. Pritam has used this combo second time after Pehli Nazar from Race. The number is special since it merges styles of both Pritam and Atif Aslam. This song can be considered as potentially second best number of the film. The song Move Your Body Now sung by Shaan, Hard Kaur and Akruti Kakkar is a rocking number which will force you to tap your feet. There is a second song with the same title as well which blends the western and Punjabi style. ‘Aai Paapi’ and ‘Move Your Body Now’ are sure hits of the album but other songs might need a bit of pushing from the performance of the film.
Singh is King
The film starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif is due to release in August. The music is again composed by Pritam. Pritam has his hands full with so many big films in his kitty. No matter whether there is plagiarism or not, the fact is that music of Pritam has done very well till date.
The title track of the film is being aired on television. There is nothing very especial about this rap number but still it is a decent hearing. This is basically a Snoop Dogg version. Jee Karda is one of the best number in the album. The English version of the song was sung by Souzie and this Punjabi version is a mixture of Punjabi and western culture. Bas Ek Kinng sung by Mika Singh, Neeraj Shridhar, Ashish Pandit and Hard Kaur is an energetic track. The other tracks in the film are Bhootni Ke, Teri Ore, Talli Hua.

Lyrics of the songs have a major role in earning popularity for the songs. In the music, background score, location etc are important for making a hit song. But if the song is lacking in lyrics, then none of the above mentioned elements would gain importance. This is common to all types of songs i.e. even for Gujarati songs.
Even today, when massed are attracted towards pop songs & international numbers, Gujarati songs have not lost their hold in the music world. This is because of its lyrics. Gujarati songs even though have modern and remix musical beats, the lyrics are still primitive. They have preserved their originality and versatility from past to present. Many words have an ancient Gujarati pronunciations .Eg. ‘Pethalpurna paavo vagione maro suto senaldo jagyo javan lal, bhummariyar lal bhummariyar’. These songs have very ancient wording or language used, but still they are a hit, because of its originality. Lyrics are purely Gujarati or Kathiyawad. There is no mixture of Hindi songs to it. They have negligible modern touch in its lyrics.
Many Gujarati stavans have heart touching wordings that rule your emotions .Songs for example “tu mane bhagwaan ek vardhan aapi de”, ‘Tan Man Dhan Prabhu na charno ma’You can feel one with god. Lyrics in these songs are so expressive that you can get a clear idea about its culture, its traditions. Every emotion is clearly expressed through the medium of songs. While listening to the songs related to a bride’s bidaai, eyes of every mother would get wet. The lyrics are so powerful that you would find it tough to control your emotions E.G Khushi Khushi Karjo Vidaai and Dikari Mari Chali Sasariye to name a few
A lyric of Gujarati folk songs makes you feel lively and energetic. Culture based and marriage Gujarati songs would make you emotional. At the same time there are songs for sheer entertainment Eg ‘Helo Maro Sambhodo ne’ etc some songs have funny lyrics that are not only loved by kids but by people of all ages.
