Behind every great song that touches the hearts of millions of listeners there is a fantastically talented music director. This is the person who ensures that his vision is conveyed to the audience in the best possible way. The music director is responsible for extracting the best possible performance from any singer. Malayalam songs have been around since 1948. The industry has seen its fair share of great music directors with a dream that needs to be shared with the people. Of these, the most notable are Vidyasagar, Alphons Joseph and Bombay Ravi.

Introduced first in the Tamil film industry, Vidyasagar literally rocked the Malayalam music scene. He is a multi talented person having successfully pulled off the roles of music director as well as music composer of Malayalam songs. ‘Nee Katu’ and ‘Orey Manam’ are his famous compositions. His films seem to succeed simply because he is a part of them. He is well known for adding mellifluous classical arrangements and tones to his music.

Ravi Shankar Sharma is another veteran of the Malayalam film industry. After his stint with the Hindi film industry, he re-entered the Malayalam industry on a second lease as Bombay Ravi. He has worked with talented people like Hariharan to create the most soulful Malayalam songs that went on to win many awards.

Another talented music director is Alphons Joseph who has made a name for himself as a music director, composer as well as singer of Malayalam songs. ‘Vellithira’ in 2003 was his first movie as a composer and he was recognized by the bigwigs of the Malayalam music business as ‘a director to watch out for’. As a music director, he is ready to experiment and try innovative ideas to make his songs different and appealing.

M.S. Viswanathan, Ilaya Raja, A.R. Rahman and Hariharan are other famous names to reckon with. Western fusion with old Malayalam music style is the new face of Malayalam songs as directed by these great music directors.

Punjabi Songs are basically traditional songs sung by Punjabi folks. The Punjabi lyrics and its music is a real hit in Bollywood industry. A thorough combination of Indian folk along with Punjabi lyrics has made music lovers a part of Punjabi Bhangra. Bhangra’s are conventional Punjabi dances sung in their own Punjabi language along with traditional apparels. Singers like Sukhvinder Singh, Daler Mehandi are famous Punjabi folk singers. These singers are popular globally and do perform at many international concerts. Apparently Punjabi folk singers and dancers are very lively and vigorous in nature. These singers hold the crowd and make them dance with their rhythm.

Farmers of northern part of India sung beautiful songs during their harvest time and celebrated festivals with colorful dancing and singing. Later this fun and frolic singing and dancing was named Bhangra by Punjabi folks. These folks used traditional drums and many other instruments to enjoy their celebrations. With the popularity of Indian film songs, traditional Bhangra also came into existence.

Lately Bhangra is one of the most popular types of songs sung across the world. A mix and match of western music along with Indian Bhangra gives a good re-mix effect. Many music groups like Bombay Rockers from Denmark and DJ A.P.S. from Canada have made a beautiful blend of English beats and Indian Bhangra.

With a big popularity of Indian traditional Bhangra nation wide it has made our Indian folk industry proud. A fusion of western beats and Indian lyrics in different band groups have made people dance on the beats and enjoy the rhythm. This beautiful folk dance made of ektara, chimta and drum beats came into existence in 1400’s and this habitat never knew that their traditional folk would be recognized internationally.

These songs when seen on the video make it more attractive for the viewer and push them to buy the video. No doubt the market for Indian video songs has always been huge in India and abroad.

Besides bollywood there is a huge market for classical songs, qawalli, ghazals, kirtans, bhajans and other devotional music. The market for these songs too is so huge that singers are requested to perform abroad at various locations.

Out of all the languages that exist in India, Hindi songs bite in a larger share of the market. As it is the national language, it is understood from north to south and with voices like Alka Yagnik, Sonu Nigam, Mika Singh, Udit Narayan, Alisha Chinai and other renowned singers you are sure to melt with their melodious voices.

So Indian Hindi songs were and will always be entertaining the classes and masses. Be it in your car audio or riksha you travel in, Hindi songs are everywhere. Even for a social gathering or a party, Hindi songs once played get everyone in the mood. Be it the somber music or the latest jatkas they are preferred by young and old alike.
